Research Perspective of the University of Amsterdam

The Research Perspective of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), adopted by the Board on 14 September 2006, maps out the course the UvA seeks to follow in terms of research in the coming years. A revised (Dec. 2008) English translation of the Research Perspective is available to download.

Academic awards

The UvA has a long-standing tradition of excellent research. Its fundamental research in particular has garnered national and international attention, with Nobel Prizes having been won in past decades by Van ‘t Hoff, Zeeman and Van der Waals, and Spinoza Prizes today regularly being awarded to UvA researchers.

Outstanding research groups

A number of research groups at the UvA have been designated as excellent by the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU).
