The University of Amsterdam is currently spread across many different locations in the city, but over the next few years will become concentrated into four urban locations. The outlook is to unite the various sections of the Faculty of Humanities, the arts faculty of the University of Amsterdam, in the Binnengasthuisterrein area.

The Faculty of Humanities houses a large number of smaller study programmes, demanding differentiated accommodation that can best be realised at Binnengasthuisterrein. A wide range of study facilities and meeting spots will be included in the new university library being realised there.
